It’s Time To Register for Gallery 27’s Next HomeSchool Session!

Gallery 27’s Homeschool Art program offers art education in an environment where giggles and grins are encouraged. Our art history based curriculum is taught by professional, college educated instructors using artist quality art supplies and materials. We specialize in finding your child’s individual artistic expression within the curriculum by allowing exploration of variety of mediums such as paint (Watercolor/acrylics), paper, clay, graphite, pastels, ink, charcoal, colored pencil, and fiber. Each semester ends with an exhibition of student work at Gallery 27.

Tuesdays – January 10, 2020-April 3, 2020
12:30 pm- 2:30 pm

Fridays – January 14, 2020-April 7, 2020
10:00 am -12:00 am

  • Homeschool Children ages 8-15 years.
  • A session is all 12 weeks.
  • Siblings discount is $25 off the $110 enrollment
    fee. Max discount per sibling is $25.
  • All supplies provided. Student are strongly
    encouraged to bring a 9×12 Canson Mixed Media
    sketch book.

Winter 2020 Curriculum

Week 1-2: Clay – Hand-Building Functional Pieces

Students will explore the various ways of creating functional objects by learning different hand-building techniques: slabs, coils, and pinch pots will be studied.

Week 3-4: Batik – Silk Scarves

Students will dive in and explore the art, history, technique and personal experience of the batik craft. New students will gain a basic knowledge of overdye batik using beeswax, brushes and tjanting tools.

Week 5-6: Graphite Drawing – Human Form and People

Students will explore how to draw people. They will learn how to use many grades of pencils and other tools to render realistic shadows, lighting and textures to make their drawings come to life!

Week 7-8: Colored Pencil – Coloring Nature

Students will study color theory, as well as techniques that will increase skill and knowledge of colored pencil.

Week 9-10: Mixed Media – Paper Mosaics Portraits

Students will study texture, color, and then cut and tear pieces to make a modern mosaic!

Week 11-12: Independant Project

Students may choose from a variety of mediums and subject matter to create an original piece of art.

Week 11-12: Make-Up Work

Students will have the opportunity to make-up a missed class or extra time to finish projects.
